+ Claude in Slack

Hey folks,
Anthropic just brought Claude into Slack. You can now add Claude straight into your Slack workspace and even let it search message history to bring context into conversations. If you need to prep for a meeting, Claude can pull up past threads and help with drafting replies all from within your workspace. It respects permissions and only sees what you allow it to see. It’s not like most bot plug-ins and feels like the start of Claude becoming part of how work actually gets done in Slack.
Let’s dive in..

🌐 Perplexity's Free AI Browser

🐝 The Buzz: Three months ago Perplexity launched Comet browser exclusively for $200/month Max subscribers. This week they made it completely free. Download it now. The waitlist had hit millions of people but now anyone can download it. This is a land grab for browser usage.
Comet's Free Features:
AI sidecar assistant - Joins you while browsing, answers questions about pages
Content summarization - Condenses articles and web pages automatically
Autonomous navigation - Can navigate websites on your behalf
Always free - Perplexity confirmed this isn't a limited promotion
Perplexity is fighting to compete against both incumbents like Google Chrome and newcomers like The Browser Company's AI-powered browser Dia. The strategy is clear: capture market share fast, monetize later. Comet will remain free permanently, which means Perplexity is betting on volume over premium pricing. Compare this to Arc's approach with Dia, invite-only, slow rollout, premium positioning. Perplexity chose the opposite: flood the market, build habits, then upsell premium features.
💡 Takeaway: AI browsers are becoming the new platform battlefield. Perplexity's free strategy is a direct attack on Chrome's dominance to get users to switch before Google embeds comparable AI. If you're not thinking about AI-first interfaces for your product, you're designing for yesterday's web.

💵 OpenAI's $500B Power Play

🐝 The Buzz: OpenAI completed a secondary share sale that catapulted their valuation to $500 billion. For context, that's larger than the GDP of 180 countries. Current and former employees sold $6.6 billion worth of stock to investors. But then Sam Altman signed a letter of intent with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix to supply memory chips for Stargate, OpenAI's $500 billion infrastructure project with up to 900,000 high-bandwidth DRAM chips monthly.
Why This Infrastructure Play Matters:
Supply chain control - OpenAI isn't just buying chips, they're locking in manufacturing capacity.
$500B Stargate project - Partnership with Oracle and SoftBank to build massive U.S. data centers.
Market impact - Samsung and SK Hynix shares hit multi-year highs, adding $37B in market cap.
Strategic moat - Controlling both funding AND hardware creates competitive advantage
The timing tells the story. Raise $6.6B one day, secure chip manufacturing the next. Bloomberg reported investors are betting OpenAI will dominate not just AI software, but the infrastructure layer beneath it. When you're valued like a country and building data centers like a utility company, you're playing a different game than your competitors.
💡 Takeaway: OpenAI's evolution from AI lab to infrastructure empire shows where the real power is shifting, whoever controls the compute controls the future. If you're building AI products, watch your dependency chains. The companies that own the infrastructure will increasingly set the rules.
