🔎 ChatGPT Can Search Company Data
+ OpenAI vs Microsoft

Hey folks,
Anthropic just rolled out an update that lets its chatbot remember past conversations for Pro and Max users, bringing it closer to ChatGPT and Gemini. You can now see exactly what Claude remembers, edit or delete specific memories, and even keep separate “memory spaces” for work and personal chats. Anthropic says it’s all about transparency and control and maybe saving users from having to re-explain their lives every time they open a new chat.
Let’s dive in..

🔍️ ChatGPT Company Knowledge Searches Enterprise Data

🐝 The Buzz: OpenAI launched Company Knowledge for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Edu, letting the AI search across Slack, SharePoint, Google Drive, and GitHub simultaneously. Powered by a GPT-5 variant trained for multi-source search, the feature returns answers with citations so teams can verify where information came from. The architecture integrates multiple enterprise apps into a single search interface. Ask ChatGPT a question, and it queries Slack threads, SharePoint documents, Drive files, and GitHub repos in parallel, then synthesizes results with source attribution. This directly competes with Microsoft 365 Copilot for enterprise knowledge management.
What you get:
Multi-app integration: Simultaneous search across Slack, SharePoint, Google Drive, GitHub with single query
GPT-5-powered search: Model variant trained specifically for cross-platform enterprise knowledge retrieval
Permission-based access: Respects existing company authorization—users only see what they're already cleared to access
Citation system: Every response includes source links for verification and trust
No training on customer data: OpenAI won't use Business/Enterprise/Edu data for model training by default
💡 Takeaway: OpenAI's betting enterprise AI adoption depends on data integration, not just model capability. If Company Knowledge eliminates manual cross-platform searches for engineering teams, it justifies ChatGPT Business subscriptions over generic LLM access. The permission inheritance is critical as enterprises won't adopt tools that require rebuilding access controls from scratch.

🧬 Copilot Connectors Match ChatGPT's Enterprise Play

🐝 The Buzz: Microsoft launched Copilot Connectors for OneDrive, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar requiring explicit consent before any data access. This is Microsoft's counter to ChatGPT Company Knowledge where you query Copilot, it searches across connected services simultaneously, returns results with context from multiple platforms. The technical stack includes Microsoft's in-house models: MAI-Voice-1 for voice interactions, MAI-1-Preview for reasoning tasks, and MAI-Vision-1 for visual understanding. The connectors feature "Proactive Actions preview" that surfaces insights based on recent activity across linked services.
What you get:
Multi-platform connectors: OneDrive, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar with explicit consent required before access
Long-term memory system: Stores and recalls past context, user-editable and deletable, persists across sessions
Permission-based search: Explicit consent model where users control which services connect and what data is searchable
In-house AI models: MAI-Voice-1 for voice, MAI-1-Preview for reasoning, MAI-Vision-1 for visual understanding
Proactive Actions preview: Surfaces insights based on recent activity across connected services
Edge browser integration: AI-powered browsing with tab reasoning and native Windows 11 companion functionality
💡 Takeaway: Microsoft and OpenAI are converging on the same enterprise AI strategy: integrate with existing tools, respect permissions, add memory, make search cross-platform. Microsoft's advantage is in-house AI models (MAI-Voice-1, MAI-1-Preview, MAI-Vision-1) rather than pure OpenAI dependency, plus OneDrive/Outlook native access and existing enterprise relationships. OpenAI has ChatGPT's user base and faster feature velocity. For engineering teams, the decision comes down to which platform already integrates with more of your existing stack and whether you prefer Microsoft's in-house models or OpenAI's GPT-5 variant.
