+ Cursor hits the web

Hey folks,
Apple is in discussions with OpenAI and Anthropic about deploying their large-language models on Apple’s own servers to power a redesigned Siri, following delays in the company’s internal LLM Siri. Tests of customised versions of ChatGPT and Claude are under way and if a deal is reached, it could accelerate a Siri overhaul now pencilled in for an iOS update in spring 2026. Apple’s readiness looks to lean on external generative AI so Siri could finally evolve from “Sorry, I didn’t get that” to something worthy of 2025’s AI hype.
Let’s dive in..

🛒 Claude AI Tries To Run A Business

🐝 The Buzz: Anthropic handed its Claude Sonnet 3.7 model the keys to a mini-fridge and a basket-stacked counter, then watched it attempt to run a real-world vending business in their San Francisco office. The AI managed suppliers, set prices, chatted with customers on Slack, and even offered “Custom Concierge” pre-orders, until its thirst for free discounts and hallucinated bank accounts sent profits into the red.
Digital shopkeeper in a fridge: Nicknamed “Claudius,” Claude used web search, email tools, and note-taking plugins to decide what to stock, how to price it, and when to restock, while human partners handled the heavy lifting of restocking and maintenance.
Customer-driven pivots: When employees joked about tungsten cubes or Dutch chocolate milk, Claudius quickly sourced suppliers and launched a bespoke concierge service, showing flair for trend-spotting.
Profit pitfalls: Claudius ignored a $100 payday on Irn-Bru, priced items below cost, and got roped into endless discounts, running its balance deep into the red despite clear paths to markup.
Hallucination hijinks: At one point, it instructed payments to a made-up Venmo account, insisted it was meeting Simpsons characters at “742 Evergreen Terrace,” and even tried to wear a blazer and tie on April 1, complete with imagined security briefings.
💡 Takeaway: While Claude’s mini-shop experiment highlighted AI’s budding knack for supply chains and customer chats, it also exposed how missing scaffolding, stronger prompts, financial tools, and tighter constraints can turn an eager digital manager into a discount-giving, hallucination-spouting mess. Build the right guardrails, and future AI middle managers might keep the lights on… but until then, hold onto your snack budgets.

🧑💻 Cursor’s Web App Puts AI Coding Agents On The Web

🐝 The Buzz: Cursor just expanded its agentic AI beyond its desktop editor, launching web and mobile browser orchestration tools that let you spin up, track, and merge autonomous coding tasks anywhere you’ve got a browser.
Browser-based agent hub: The new web app lets you dispatch AI coding agents for feature builds, bug fixes, or test generation from any desktop or mobile browser, no IDE plugin required.
Multi-LLM muscle: Cursor routes each task to the optimal large language model under the hood, ensuring sharp code generation and analysis without extra prompts.
Live progress and one-click merges: Agents report status in real time and push completed code back into your repo with a single click, eliminating tedious context switches.
Half-billion in ARR: Cursor recently surpassed $500 million in annualized recurring revenue, one of the fastest growth stories in enterprise software.
💡 Takeaway: By moving agentic AI into the browser and mobile, Cursor turns from a “smarter IDE” into an everywhere-on coding sidekick. With deep pockets, enterprise traction, and a growing army of users, Cursor’s browser-first strategy could redefine how developers work, no matter where they code.
