+ Google AI takes the lead

Hey folks,
A Reddit user has found that last year ChatGPT was the 15th most visited site. Now itās #5, while every other top-10 site is losing traffic like Wikipedia who fell 6%. People arenāt surfing the web anymore, theyāre heading straight to ChatGPT. Itās not just a tool, itās become the new internet interface, quietly replacing the old web.

Letās dive in..

šØāš» Googleās AlphaEvolve Writes Its Own Code

š The Buzz: Google DeepMind just dropped AlphaEvolve, an AI agent that designs and refines algorithms on its own. Itās powered by Gemini under the hood, but itās also got evolutionary tricks baked in. This thing doesnāt just generate code, it invents smarter ways to do things humans haven't figured out yet.
Saving Compute at Scale: It tuned up Googleās internal scheduling system (Borg), recovering nearly 1% of compute resources. That might not sound like much until you realize it saves millions across their entire infrastructure.
Smarter Chips Too: It even helped optimize TPU designs by identifying and stripping out unnecessary arithmetic components. Translation: faster chips, less power, better everything.
Better Than Strassen: AlphaEvolve reinvented a decades-old algorithm used in matrix multiplication, beating the classic Strassen method with fewer steps. It figured out how to do 4x4 complex matrix math using just 48 scalar multiplications. I actually donāt understand this, but Iām sure itās imopressive.
š” Takeaway: AlphaEvolve is one of the clearest signs yet that AI isnāt just helping humans build software, itās starting to build it better than we can. Google just handed algorithm design over to a machine, and the machine handed back performance gains and real money saved. Thatās not assistive anymore, thatās AI taking the lead.

šļø Codex AI Isnāt Just for Devs, Hereās What It Can Do for You

š The Buzz: Youāve probably heard that OpenAIās Codex is an AI coding agent. Cool, but if youāre not a full-time engineer, you might be thinking: āSo what?ā The thing is, Codex doesnāt just spit out code, it can actually do stuff that saves you time, even if you barely remember what HTML stands for.
It can automate boring tasks: Want to rename 200 image files with cleaner names? Codex can write a script to do that for you in seconds. No more manual renaming one file at a time like itās 2004.
Itās your no-code assistant (that secretly uses code): You donāt have to touch a terminal. Just ask it in plain English: āMake a script that pulls product names from this spreadsheet and formats them into bullet points.ā Boomādone.
It runs, explains, and fixes code by itself: If something breaks, itāll debug the issue and walk you through what happened. You donāt have to guess why your script turned every price into $NaN.
š Real-World Example:
Letās say youāre running a small Shopify store and youāve got a CSV with 100 new product descriptions. You need each one converted into short, punchy bullet points for your listings. You can say:
āTake this CSV and summarize each product description into 3 bullet points, max 15 words each. Add line breaks between entries and save it as a new CSV.ā
š” Takeaway: Codex isnāt just for people writing APIs and testing edge cases, itās for anyone who wants to turn messy, manual work into quick wins. If youāve got repetitive tasks or annoying data jobs piling up, this is your AI intern who just does the work. Give it something small and annoying. You might be surprised how useful it gets.
